In Gio’s own words: “This song is an anthem for myself, a representation of how it feels to finally start ‘breaking free’ from the chains of my past. It takes repetition and practice. It’s not all happy and feeling fulfilled, there’s a hint of grief of losing what I’ve always known – even though it hurt. In this track I wanted to capture all of those emotions and feelings with a melody that walks the line between freedom and self-restraint. Breaking Free takes time, but it is worth it.”
